Here we go with another new year. Membership is the heart and soul of our organization. It is our job as members of the Ladies Auxiliary to continue to build a diverse membership base so we can continue to assist and show our support to our Veterans, and their families. We will accomplish this be Retaining, Recruiting and Reinstating members.

Ladies as you may already know we are losing members right and left. Last year we lost 100 members to death alone. We can’t afford to lose our membership base any other way. Don’t let members quit or lose interest. We need to start now collecting the dues for 2011. Set up a committee; get the membership dues notices sent out and get the continuous dues collected. Offer an incentive for paying dues early by having a drawing for “Life Membership”.

I have included with the first membership mailing a bookmark. It has important dates that we need to achieve. We need to attain 65% paid membership by August 31, 2010. Our Department will earn $100.00 by doing this. Also we need to reach this goal to help earn a Special Award of $500.00, which will be for President Sandy, to help off set her expenses on her trip to the Statue of Liberty. I know this can be done, so lets’ get started.

The other goals we need to attain are: 70% membership by September 30th, 2010. 80% membership by October 31, 2010. 85% membership by November 30, 2010, and 90% membership by December 31, 2010. By looking at your Bookmark you can see the awards available to earn. Flip the Bookmark over and see the 5 most common reasons people join organizations.

I look forward to working with each one of you this year and obtaining 100% membership for 2011. As our Director of Membership Jean Hamil says “Through your effective planning and leadership in the Ladies Auxiliary VFW, we will stand United by Love for our Veterans and Country and we will achieve 100% in membership for our Great organization.”

At our School of Instruction at each of the District Meetings I will have Facts leaflets and Brochures to share with you. Please if you have questions don’t hesitate to call or email me. Lets’ start the year by the 3R’s of membership growth: Retain, Reinstate former members and Recruiting new one.
