- Sec. 218-Officers and Chairman, Duties and Obligations. Explains the duties of all offices and should be understood by all potential elected and appointed personnel.
- A reminder that all Posts must forward a copy of their election report to Department Headquarters and National Headquarters immediately after elections are completed in April. This includes any Men’s Auxiliary as well. (See General Orders, 10-06 February 2010) You are asked to complete the election form with all information requested in a legible format. Please include an email contact address for your Post if possible.

- A reminder that Buddy Poppy’s can be distributed anytime of year, you don’t have to wait for a special event. The Departments purchase of Poppy’s is behind last years, so if you haven’t bought any for your Post yet contact the Department Quartermaster.
- District Conventions, Elections are beginning this month. It’s your organization so try to attend the meeting in your District.
- Attention: The State Commander and Senior Vice will be out of the State, March 6 ~ 10. Junior Vice Commander Bobby Hoard will be in charge during that period. Department Headquarters will be closed for the same period.

- Attention of Post Commanders is directed to section 218 of the Manual of Procedure, “Duty of Trustees”. Trustees Report of Audit must be completed in detail at the close of each quarter, one of which ended December 31, 2009. Commanders are reminded that accurate and complete records shall be kept by all persons handling Post funds, including the Club Manager and Bingo Chairman. These records shall be audited by the Post trustees in the same manner as Post Quartermaster records.
- “Annual members are reminded that their membership in the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States expired December 31, 2009, unless their 2010 dues have been paid and reported to National Headquarters”.

- All Members are reminded of December 7th, “Pearl Harbor Day” and that arraignments should be made to honor and remember those that served and died 68 years ago.
- “Annual members are reminded that their membership in the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States expires December 31, 2009, unless their 2010 dues are paid and reported to National Headquarters. - With school starting in August, now is a perfect time to start working on the Voice of Democracy, Patriot’s Pen and National Teachers Awards programs. You are asked to meet with school officials and try to get these programs into the class rooms. Home schools can be a good place to get students involved as well. Themes this year are: VOD ~ “Does America Still Have Heroes?” Patriot’s Pen ~ “When is the Right Time to Honor our Military heroes?” More information as well as Brochures are available at www.vfw.org. - Quartermaster Bonds for 2009-10 are due no later than August 27, 2009 to Department Headquarters in order for the September 1st deadline to the Bonding Company to be met. The Bonding year is September 1 to August 31, 2010. All Posts will need the “Bonding Certificate” for the District Commanders inspection.

NATIONAL HEADQUARTERS VETERANS OF FOREIGN WARS OF THE UNITED STATES General Orders No. 10 2008-09 Series 1. Per Section 213 of the National By-Laws, Posts that have not submitted a properly completed Post Election Report are in arrears and shall be deprived of all representation in District, Department and National Conventions. Such representation shall be restored promptly upon proper adjustments of such deficiencies. Posts that have registered delegates for the Department and National Conventions will not receive credentials until the Post has satisfied their arrearage. 2. Posts that have not properly reported elected officers by June 1, 2009, will be suspended for a period of up to ninety (90) days by the Commander-in-Chief. This suspension will automatically terminate when a properly completed Report of Election of officers is received at National Headquarters. At the end of ninety (90) days, the Commander-in-Chief may cancel the charter of any Post not properly submitting a list of officers to National Headquarters. 3.
